Impact of LSVT-BIG ® on functional mobility, walking, dexterity, and quality of life in Parkinson's disease

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact LSVT-BIG ® (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Big) technique on functional mobility, dexterity, and quality life in Parkinson's disease (PD).
 Materials Methods: Fifteen patients with (9 males, 6 females, aged 40-75 years; Hoehn & Yahr Stages I-III) completed a 4-week training program for 1 hour/session, 4 sessions per week. Disease Quality Life Questionnaire-39 (PDQ-39) used measuring patients' at beginning (t0) end (t1) rehabilitation program. Nine-Hole Peg Test (NHPT) dexterity. 10 Meter Walking (10MWT), Timed-Up-and-Go (TUG), Five-Times Sit-to-Stand (5XSST) were assessing mobility. After weeks, all participants retested.
 Results: weeks therapy, statistically significant improvement found PDQ-39 activities daily living, emotional state, stigma, cognition, communication, physical discomfort, general scores after exercise compared before. There no change social support score In addition, mobility improved as indicated by TUG test, 5XSST, 10MWT (and dexterity NHPT left.
 Conclusion: may be new therapeutic option better walking, manual capability performance enhancing PD. Randomized controlled trials bigger sizes are needed effect reducing motor non-motor impairments
